Hello My Name Is...

Audrey Prather

This is my 3rd year in GCISD and I’m so happy to be here! I’m a Literacy Interventionist for the district, and I'm excited to teach for Glenhope Elementary. I have also taught classes for Cannon Elementary, Cross Timbers Middle School, and Grapevine High School.

Prior to GCISD I was the Dyslexia Teacher for a charter school and worked with students in kindergarten up to 8th grade for three years. I was also a Reading Interventionist for 3rd-5th grade during that time. Prior to that I was a 4th grade reading and writing teacher which is when I found my passion of teaching reading! Specifically, I found a love for teaching students with dyslexia.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M-Commerce where I earned my certification in EC-6th grade education and English as a Second Language Supplemental. I am also trained in MTA (Multisensory Teaching Approach) which is an Orton-Gillingham based program used for the remediation of dyslexia. MTA combines visual, auditory, and kinesthetic instruction. With my MTA training I can teach any student with dyslexia in any grade level. What most people would find interesting about me is I originally majored in Fine Arts! I specialized in photography and silkscreen printmaking, but decided teaching was the better path for me.

I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma but grew up in Plano, Texas. Throughout my childhood I also had the chance to live in Florida, California, and Virginia. My hobbies include art, interior design, and reading!
